Patricia Yoshida

Born in 1957 to Carl and Elizabeth Ley, Patricia was the youngest of four. While she had elder siblings David and Linda, it was Liz she bonded with most strongly, developing a curiosity for the world around her through Liz's studies. She took a particular interest in biological science, and from this fascination, knew she wanted to be a nurse.

In high school, she met Carol McClintick and Rhonda Guggenheimer, forming what would become lifelong friendships. In 1980 she met Ken Yoshida. The two married in 1981, and they had three children: Christopher, Elizabeth, and Paul.

In 1988, she graduated from nursing school as an LVN, but never let her career get in the way of spending time with her family. She was always involved in school activities, kids club, fundraisers, cub scouts, girl scouts, boy scouts, birthday parties, handmade Halloween costumes and more. She was truly made to be a mom, and she threw herself into it body and soul.

In 1991, she fell out of a car moving at 40mph, and we thought (and were indeed told) that we lost her, but she wasn't done fighting yet; with her fierce strength, and the force of her love for her family, she pulled though. Despite losing the function of her right arm (her dominant hand at the time), and suffering from often debilitating pain, she persevered, and returned not only to the motherhood she was so suited for, but also to caring for others as a nurse, not missing a step in either realm.

Tricia eventually retired, and spent her last years rescuing dogs, training in Judo, traveling with Ken, and spending time with her children. She truly loved like a hippie, and shined like the sun.

Patricia was a nurse, an animal lover, a judoka, a hippie, a story-teller, an idealist, a steadfast friend, adoring sister, and devoted mom and wife.

But more than anything, she was and is, loved.
